Potential Impacts of Space Travel on Eyes

Space and ocean are those places where every day new and unique movements are ready to astonish us and spark lights of curiosity.

The topic of space travel always seems attractive and exciting, but surprisingly, space travel affects our bodies, including our eyes.

Unlike Earth, there is no gravity in space to pull fluid down. In no gravity space, fluids can move to the upper body, including the head.

This fluid around the head can result in a condition called SANS. This situation creates problems for astronauts, like blurry vision or trouble focusing.

In SANS, astronauts may feel swollen optic discs, flattened eyeballs, and certain kinds of changes in the retina.

Scientists are still figuring out how these problems can be overcome. They are exploring excises, medicine, and special equipment.

Due to space travel, astronauts face many risks from radiation, mental health issues, and many other changes in the body, like muscle loss, weakness, and puffy faces.
